Conservation Notes

The support is a medium-weight, plain-weave fabric, lined to an auxiliary fabric. A smooth, light colored ground has been applied overall. The paint surface is in good condition except along the right edge, where there is a series of fairly regular horizontal cracks, suggesting that the painting may have been rolled up at one time. Some flattening of the paint surface occurred during the relining. The varnish, which is slightly pigmented, is dull and disfigured by bloom. The original tacking margins have been removed.
