Boy dolls have never been common. This doll, named "Johnnie," dates from the early nineteenth century. He wears a blue challis suit and finely hand-tucked linens. His body is of heavy cotton cloth with hair and features embroidered in yarn. His expression suggests that he may have been modeled after a specific little boy.
