This polychrome bird resembles a parrot. In contrast to the naturalistic detail of the owl, the parrot is smoothly stylized and painted in the bright colors typical of Pennsylvania German decoration. Because thin wooden legs could easily break, the carver has ingeniously substituted wire to mount the bird on the sawed-off finial of a bedpost.
