El Greco's son, Jorge Manuel Theotocópuli, Toledo, by 1621.[1] In 1786, possibly in the Convent of San Hermengildo, Madrid.[2] By 1902, in the collection of Felipe de la Rica of the Montejo family, Madrid.[3] By 1908, in the collection of Doña Maria de Montejo, Madrid.[4] After 1926, sold by the Montejo family to a European art dealer;[5] purchased by (Boehler & Steinmeyer, New York);[6] sold in February 1931 to Chester Dale, New York;[7] gift to NGA 1943.
