In this painting, a woman and a child are seated on the grass in a woodland setting, facing the left. The woman is shown from the side, her legs stretched out in front of her towards the bottom left corner of the painting. She has pale skin and red hair tied back under a white and black hat with a long while veil behind it. The child, seated beside her, is shown from the front, with pale skin and light-yellow hair peeking out from under a wide-brimmed white hat. The child has a round face and bright blue eyes. The woman is dressed in a long, white dress with pale gray stripes, and the child appears to be in a matching white outfit. The background is full of green foliage and gray tree trunks.
