Technical Material (612)
Technical material in the collection includes prints and contact sheets from Frank's negatives that have been printed by the National Gallery rather than the artist himself. Some are duplicates of contact sheets printed by Frank (for instance, the Spain contact sheets from 1948–1949, 1952) while others are made from negatives that Frank did not print. Five prints in this group (T1994.37.211.19–24) may be vintage prints. These objects are not accessioned works of art. Technical material is detailed in Robert Frank Technical Material.
The collection includes one camera that Frank used in Switzerland for his 40 Fotos project. It is a Voightländer camera that takes 9 x 12 cm film. It appears that Frank used both glass and film negatives in this camera.
