Dürer and His Time

Overview: 40 works by Albrecht Dürer as well as drawings by his contemporaries Martin Schongauer, Matthias Grünewald, Albrecht Altdorfer, Wolf Huber, Lucas Cranach, Hans Holbein and others, all created between 1470 and 1530, were on view. The show constituted the American opening of the exhibition of 150 drawings from the Print Room of the Berlin State Museum, Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz. It was shown previously in Brussels and Amsterdam; the catalogue was translated from the French.
Organization: The exhibition was organized and circulated by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.
