Overview: 126 drawings were selected by Walter Hugelshofer, who also wrote the introduction and notes for the catalogue. The works ranged from the early 16th century, with examples by Urs Graf and Hans Holbein, to 20th-century works by Alberto Giacometti.

Sponsor: The exhibition was sponsored by the Pro Helvetia Foundation of Zurich. It was organized and circulated by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.
