Overview: A focus exhibition of Saint-Gaudens' plaster version of his bronze Shaw Memorial (Boston) included 8 early plaster studies for the memorial. The Saint-Gaudens plaster was installed at the Gallery on a 10-year-renewable loan from the National Park Service. A 20-by-15-foot niche was built in a gallery wall to accommodate the memorial and its new pedestal.

Organization: Nicolai Cikovsky Jr., curator of American and British paintings at the National Gallery, was exhibition coordinator.
