In the Library: Announcements from the Vertical Files

January 7 – April 26, 2013

East Building Ground Level, Library

THIS EXHIBITION IS NO LONGER ON VIEW AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY.

Overview: This selection of exhibition announcements and invitations reflects the materiality of the art these small works promote through clever use of material, color, and form. Selected from the vertical files, which house the National Gallery of Art Library collection of printed ephemera, this compilation publicizing exhibitions by artists including Alexander Calder, Tony Smith, and Louise Nevelson provides unique insight into postwar aesthetics and the material culture of the art world.

Organization: Organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington

Passes: Passes are not required for this exhibition.
