Drawing in Silver and Gold: Leonardo to Jasper Johns

Acknowledgments

From its earliest inception, Drawing in Silver and Gold: Leonardo to Jasper Johns, has had the benefit of the enthusiasm and support of numerous colleagues, beginning at the National Gallery of Art and continuing once The British Museum joined the project. We are indebted to the many people at both institutions who worked toward the realization of the exhibition.

A vital aspect of the exhibition has been the contributions of conservators and scientists. Kimberly Schenck, head of paper conservation at the National Gallery of Art, has worked with the organizing curators since the exhibition’s earliest days. Not only has she contributed significant content on materials and techniques, but the other sections have benefited greatly from her years of research. Joanna Russell, Judith Rayner, and Jenny Bescoby from the department of conservation and scientific analysis at The British Museum, have instituted a program of technical analysis of that institution’s metalpoints and some of their early findings are included in this feature. This project and similar ones proceeding all over the world will greatly enhance our understanding of the medium in the future.
