National Gallery of Art Announces "DJs in the Garden: Spin, Cut, & Groove" Thursday Nights through February 2013

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink, National Gallery of Art, Washington

Washington, DC—On Thursday, December 6, the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden ice rink introduces the new evening event DJs in the Garden: Spin, Cut, & Groove. Even with a chill in the air this winter, skaters can warm up every Thursday night (6:00–9:00 p.m.) with a different guest DJ spinning popular music from the 1960s through today—hip-hop, R&B, disco, pop, rock 'n' roll, soul, and more. Skaters are welcome to make requests and twirl across the ice to their favorite tunes. DJs in the Garden will continue through February 28.

The experience of skating in the Sculpture Garden, surrounded by the grand architecture of national museums and monuments, is enhanced by views of splendid large-scale sculptures by such post–World War II artists as Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein, Roxy Paine, Tony Smith, and others from the Gallery's renowned collection. The Pavilion Café offers a gourmet espresso and hot chocolate bar, complete with toppings, liqueurs, and biscotti. The ice rink is located on the National Mall between 7th and 9th Streets along Constitution Avenue NW.
