Andrew W. Mellon believed that his founding gifts would lead to successive waves of generosity, enriching the nation’s cultural heritage. Mellon’s vision comes to life in The Circle, The Exhibition Circle, and The Tower Project. These annual giving groups support vital museum programs while allowing members to forge a rewarding relationship with the Gallery. Membership in any category entitles two to participate.

The Circle

An annual unrestricted gift starting at $1,000 supports the Gallery’s programs in conservation, special exhibitions, scholarly and scientific research, and more. Circle members enjoy a more intimate experience at the Gallery – talking with curators to learn about the collection, attending evening receptions and family programs, and viewing special exhibitions before they open to the public, among other benefits.

The Exhibition Circle

An annual gift of $20,000 or more in support of The Exhibition Circle provides the Gallery with a crucial source of funds for exhibitions. At this generous gift level, members will receive all Circle benefits, as well as invitations to opening events for exhibitions sponsored by The Exhibition Circle, recognition in exhibition catalogues, behind-the-scenes tours and other opportunities.

The Tower Project

An annual gift of $2,500 for membership in The Tower Project provides support for modern and contemporary exhibitions in the Tower Gallery of the East Building. Celebrating new directions and approaches in art, the Tower Gallery features contemporary artists and presents an extraordinary range of creativity. Among the benefits of membership are recognition in exhibition materials and invitations to special curatorial lectures, tours, and receptions.
