We’re improving our facilities and bringing new art installations to life. As a result, some of our galleries may be closed on any given day.

What’s happening?

Sections of our West Building's Main Floor galleries will close for six to eight months at a time through summer 2024. During that period, highlights will be moved to our Ground Floor galleries G37, G39, and G41.

We’re repairing stone on the outside of our West Building, replacing areas of our roof, and improving our National Mall entrance doors and southwest lawn. This work is happening in phases through summer 2024.
