How are color, line, and shape used to make works of art? In this tour, careful looking exercises and hands-on activities help students understand and explore the basic elements of art while developing personal connections and ideas about works of art.
Looking and Learning Skills
During four or five tour stops, students engage in activities—such as looking exercises, simple art-making activities, and small group work—that foster conversations around works of art. The following skills are promoted:
- Observing, describing, and sharing ideas about the artworks and their elements
- Connecting to and generating ideas about works of art, drawing on prior knowledge and experience
- Comparing and contrasting works of art
