Overview: Featured were 86 old master drawings, most of them Italian and Netherlandish works dating from the early 15th century to the late 18th century. 69 works came from the National Galleries of Scotland and 17 from the Royal Scottish Academy.

Organization: Andrew Robison, senior curator at the National Gallery of Art, and Hugh Macandrew, keeper of prints and drawings at the National Gallery of Scotland, were exhibition curators.

Sponsor: An indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities supported the exhibition.

Attendance: 48,886
