Raphael, The Miraculous Draft of Fishes, c. 1514 This drawing is a preparatory study for the series of tapestry cartoons known as the Acts of the Apostles. The cartoons--seven of which survive--were painted in Rome for Pope Leo X and transported to Flanders where the tapestries were woven. This study depicts Christ calling the fishermen Peter and Andrew. |
