This candlestick is another example of rare French ceramics influenced by sixteenth-century European pattern books and prints of Islamic ornament. It is assembled from at least 130 separately formed and decorated parts.

Compare the two bottom tiers of the Saint-Porchaire candlestick to the geometric knotwork in the top band of Pellegrino's woodcut.
