The Vicarage at Nuenen, October-November 1885
oil on canvas
Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam (Vincent van Gogh Foundation)
Van Gogh lived in this house with his parents for several months in 1883-1884. His father, a protestant pastor, was then the rector of a church in Nuenen, a predominantly Roman Catholic town in the southern province of Brabant. This painting was probably executed after the death of Van Gogh's father in 1885.
