Venus, related works

In this engraving by the Master E.S., an armored knight tugs at the gown of a lady who holds his lance and his helmet. The helmet is a sallet, of the type worn in battle. Like the Housebook Master, this artist rendered many secular subjects, favoring depictions of lovers.
