Born and trained in Venice.

c. 1503-1506
In Treviso working for Bishop Bernardo de' Rossi.

1506
Moves to the Marches to paint the high altarpiece for the church of San Domenico, Recanati.

1509
In Rome, painting frescoes in the Vatican Palace.

1511-1512
After a possible trip to Florence, returns to the Marches.

1513
Moves to Bergamo to paint altarpiece for the Dominican church of Santi Stefano e Domenico.

1521
Completes Virgin and Child Enthroned with Saints for the church of Santo Spirito, Bergamo.

1523
Visits Jesi to sign contract for the Saint Lucy altarpiece for the church of San Floriano.

1524
In Trescore, outside Bergamo, to paint frescoes in the Suardi Chapel. Begins to design inlaid wood panels (intarsias) with Old Testament scenes and allegorical covers, for the choir of Santa Maria Maggiore, Bergamo.

1525
Returns to Venice, where, for the next seven years, paints portraits and devotional pictures.

1529
Completes the altarpiece of Saint Nicholas in Glory for Santa Maria dei Carmini, Venice.

c. 1533-1539
Returns to the Marches to work in Jesi, Ancona, Loreto, and other towns.

1538
Begins keeping detailed account book (the Libro di Spese), which he continues to his death.

1540-1542
Back in Venice; resides with a relative. Completes altarpiece for the Dominican church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo.

1542-1545
Returns to Treviso where complains he can no longer make a living as a painter.

1545-1549
In Venice, where he makes a will (1546).

1549
Returns to the Marches.

1550
Holds unsuccessful auction of his works in Ancona.

1554
Becomes a lay brother in the religious community at the Santa Casa, Loreto.

1557
Recorded as deceased in Loreto.
