Early in his career and repeatedly in later years Moran stated that J.M.W. Turner, Britain's foremost landscape painter, was the artist he admired most. Turner's color and subject matter, both in oil and watercolor, made a tremendous impact on Moran, and this influence can be seen in the two works shown here.
