apartment houses show the unfinished paper touched with quick strokes
of black and gray to suggest windows and doors. Henri
de Toulouse-Lautrec introduced Vuillard to this technique of
showing the uncoated supportwhether brown paper, cardboard,
panel, or canvasas part of the finished work of art. |
