For the Art Nouveau exhibition the NGA brought together a wide variety of objects and design elements in each gallery in an effort to echo the Art Nouveau principle of Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art). In the room dedicated to the Art Nouveau style in Munich, designers planned to reproduce the three-dimensional effect of the "Room for an Art Lover" frieze using a two-dimensional silkscreen design.
