A special squeegee enables staff to pull ink across the surface of the screen. Strong downward pressure forces ink through the screen in the cut-away areas and onto the mylar sheet. Each sixteen-foot section required four screens to complete two mirrored halves for two different ink colors. The first color applied was lighter than the background to represent the highlighted areas of the frieze.
