1880 - 1885 Architectural Collaborations
Saint-Gaudens worked on decorative projects for the Vanderbilt and Villard mansions in New York, developing the image of a Renaissance angel that he would rework over many years and that would become his signature figure. One example is the Amor Caritas now in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
