Note to the Reader / Second Edition

Overview

This second edition of the Gemini G.E.L. online catalogue raisonné introduces 293 prints and edition sculpture published between the beginning of 1997 and late 2005. The catalogue now presents 2,072 editions online as a chronicle of Gemini’s creative activity from its 1966 inception to a temporary resting point near the close of 2005. Of course, Gemini continues to collaborate with important contemporary artists and we intend to include forthcoming editions in future updates of the online catalogue.

Newly added entries reflect nine productive Gemini years featuring editions by 14 artists who have extended their Gemini legacy as well as impressions by 11 artists joining the fold. Online essays have been revised and expanded, highlighting recent Gemini print investigations, and are augmented with a new essay spotlighting the Gemini oeuvre of artist Elizabeth Murray. One catalogue field name has been changed: Old Gemini Catalogue Number is now Gemini Publication Sequence Number, a term that more accurately describes the chronological numbering of Gemini’s print editions.
