Napolean - detail

The artist has included many clues to make us think that Napoleon has just gotten up from his desk where he's been working. But, if that's the case, he must have been VERY uncomfortable—there's a gold-handled sword on the chair. (It's probably just there as a prop to symbolize Napoleon's military power.)
