American Paintings from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

Overview: This survey, consisting of 50 paintings each from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, included works by 76 artists and spanned the time from 1670 to 1969. The show was proposed by the Seattle Art Museum to enable art lovers in other parts of the country to see important works from East Coast museums and to celebrate the 100th anniversaries of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The works were selected by Thomas N. Maytham, associate director at the Seattle Art Museum. William P. Campbell, assistant chief curator, was the Gallery coordinator of the exhibition.
