Master Drawings from the Collection of the National Gallery of Art and Promised Gifts

June 1-August 13, 1978

Overview: 120 old master drawings were organized in 6 geographical and historical sections spanning the 12th through the 20th century. The exhibition represented the collecting of more than 25 donors and potential donors. This first graphics exhibition in the East Building was prepared by Agnes Mongan, 1977-1978 Kress Professor, with Lynn Gould and Andrew Robison. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition and Gordon Anson designed the lighting.

Attendance: 198,000 (74 days)

Location: East Building, Ground Floor, Northwest, Pod II (3,000 sq. ft.)
