Rosso Fiorentino: Drawings, Prints, and Decorative Arts
Overview: 28 of the artist's drawings were shown together with 80 prints by other artists who used his compositions. Included were 3 maiolica and 3 enamel plates, 1 book, and 2 large tapestries from Vienna. This exhibition illustrated the influence of Rosso Fiorentino (1494-1540) during his Italian period and his last 10 years, spent at the French court of Fontainebleau. 32 lenders contributed. Eugene A. Carroll of Vassar College was guest curator and H. Diane Russell was coordinator at the Gallery.
Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition and Gordon Anson designed the lighting. The exhibition was supported by an indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.
