A Discerning Eye: Prints and Drawings Given by Ruth B. Benedict

Overview: 78 prints and drawings from the mid-16th to the mid-20th century were selected from 143 works on paper, a gift to the Gallery by Dr. Ruth B. Benedict. The chronologically arranged exhibition was presented as a tribute to Dr. Benedict, who had died in October 1993. It was organized by Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon senior curator, assisted by Gregory Jecmen, assistant curator of old master prints.
