Toulouse-Lautrec: Marcelle Lender in "Chilpéric"

Overview: This focus exhibition featured Toulouse-Lautrec's theatrical painting, Marcelle Lender Dancing the Bolero in "Chilpéric," a partial and promised gift of Betsey Cushing Whitney in honor of John Hay Whitney for the 50th anniversary of the Gallery. Also included were 17 related lithographs depicting Chilpéric and Marcelle Lender from the Gallery's collection.

Curator was Florence E. Coman, assistant curator of French paintings at the National Gallery of Art.
