The East Building: Celebrating 25 Years

June 1, 2003-July 6, 2004

Overview: Drawn from the holdings of the National Gallery of Art archives, this special installation celebrated the 25th anniversary of the opening of the East Building with historical photographs, facsimiles of architectural drawings, and a three-dimensional model of the West and East Buildings. The historical materials and accompanying text documented the history of the site, the museum's steps in selecting the architect, and I. M. Pei's process in designing the structure.

The installation was organized by the National Gallery of Art.
