Solstice Saturday

Sculpture Garden
Join us and our partners from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for a day of outdoor activities surrounding the exhibition. Activities will include nature-based artmaking, performances, and talksexploring the plants and animals around us. Kids’ and family-centered activities will take place from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

First Saturday

East Building and Sculpture Garden
Join us and our partners from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) for a day of indoor and outdoor activities surrounding the exhibition. Activities will include nature-based artmaking, performances, and a conversation between artist and exhibition curator Dario Robleto and conservation scientists.

Film

By Land, Sea, and Lens: Creatures on Film
This six-part film series displays historic and contemporary international videos and films inspired by the insects, sea creatures, birds and other animals. Each title is an example of how humanity’s curiosity about non-human inhabitants of land, sea, and air, leads filmmakers to use technical, scientific, and creative means to explore insights into the natural world.

Ancient Beacons Long for Notice (Dario Robleto, 2024)

Post-screening discussion with artist and filmmaker Dario Robleto and writer Ann Druyan. There will also be a video installation of a new work by Robleto commissioned by the National Gallery in Little Beasts throughout the run of the exhibition.
