1. Works in Progress Lectures

Image: Jan Steen, 1663 Widener Collection 1942.9.81Please join us for two Works in Progress Lectures in the East Building Small Auditorium at 12:10 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. On April 16, Jephta Dullaart, academic year intern at the National Gallery of Art, will speak on Putting Things in Perspective: Changing Aesthetics and Dutch Cityscape Painting, and on April 30, Dr. Jennifer Wagelie, department of academic programs, National Gallery of Art, will speak about New Zealand at the Fair: The Presentation of Maori Art and Culture at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, 1904. Lectures are free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is not required.

2. Armand Hammer Collection: Italian Drawings from the Hammer Collection

Image: Albrecht Dürer, 1526 The Armand Hammer Collection 1991.217.1The Armand Hammer collection of old master and modern drawings consists of works by some of the greatest draftsmen of all time, from Leonardo and Raphael to Van Gogh and Picasso. This selection presents Italian drawings throughout the centuries, ranging from High Renaissance masters to 18th-century artists.

3. The Fifty-sixth A. W. Mellon Lectures in the Fine Arts 2007: Last Looks, Last Books: The Binocular Poetry of Death

4. Symposium: Jasper Johns: The First Decade

It is offered in conjunction with the ongoing exhibition Jasper Johns: An Allegory of Painting, 1955–1965, and participants will include Jeffrey Weiss, Richard Meyer, Thomas Crow, Faya Causey, David Joselit, Harry Cooper, and Joachim Pissarro.

5. Children's Films: Emmanuel's Gift

Image: Still from Emmanuel's Gift Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah was born with his right leg severely impaired. Using only one leg, he pedaled a bicycle across Ghana to spread the message that disability does not equal inability. Documenting his journey to the United States, where he received a prosthetic leg, and his return to Ghana to distribute wheelchairs and set up education funds, this film tells the remarkable and true story of how one person changed a nation's perception of those with physical disabilities.

6. Family Workshop: Sailing Adventure

After an interactive tour in the galleries, adults and children will work together to decorate their own sailboat to take home.
