AFI Docs Special Screening: Witkin + Witkin

June 16 at 4:00
East Building Auditorium

AFI Docs showcases many of the best new documentary films from the United States and around the world. Screenings during this annual five-day event take place in landmark venues around Washington and at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring. The National Gallery of Art is pleased to present a premiere screening of Witkin + Witkin as part of this year’s AFI Docs festival.

The artwork of septuagenarian twins Joel-Peter and Jerome Witkin transcends genres and traditional form. Witkin + Witkin explores the brothers' complicated relationship with one another, and examines depths and divisions in their work. Joel-Peter's stunning photography and Jerome's powerful figurative paintings distinctly capture the human condition, reflecting differing emotional and intellectual approaches.
