Yvonne Rainer Retrospective with artist in conversation with James Meyer
Recently digitally restored by Zeitgeist Films, Rainer’s first feature Lives of Performers was filmed by master cinematographer Babette Mangolte and builds upon themes of power between romantic partners, and the relationships between performers and their audiences (1972, 16mm to DCP, 90 minutes).
Preceded by Hand Movie, a close-up study of Rainer’s hand, the fingers of which enact a sensuous dance (1966, 8mm to digital file, 6 minutes).
