Creating Connections will return in the spring of 2022. Please check back for more information in the new year.
Through discussions in front of original works of art in the National Gallery of Art, this series of workshops will help participants explore and practice skills around visual literacy, communication, and perspective taking, as well as cultivate empathy. Small group and individual activities and exercises in the galleries will encourage you to engage deeply with art, with others, and with the world around us.
Each of the four sessions in this program will focus on a different topic, so participants are invited to register for all four sessions.
The program is designed for everyone interested in talking about art. No art or art history background is required.
How Registration Works
This program is free and open to the public, but you must register in advance due to limited space. Ages 18 and over.
Each workshop topic is repeated twice. Please register for one date per topic.

Workshops by Special Appointment
Groups wishing to request a private 3-hour workshop based on the "Creating Connections" model may submit their requests to [email protected]. Such private workshops are free of charge and are available to groups of 15 to 30 participants, all of whom must be aged 18 or older. Requests must be submitted at least three weeks in advance of the requested workshop date. Scheduling remains subject to Gallery availability; it may not be possible for the Gallery to accommodate all requests.
