Join us for a film premiere and conversation with Teresita Fernández, artist and MacArthur "Genius" Fellow (2005), and Molly Donovan, curator of contemporary art at the National Gallery of Art.

About the Film

Fernández invited us to be the first to film her renovated Brooklyn studio and the installation of Paradise Parados, her site-specific, monumental sculpture at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. This new film in the National Gallery's Artists at Work series features an intimate look at Fernández's  practice, including her Maelstrom series,  Fire (United States of the Americas) currently on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Dark Earth on view at Georgetown University’s Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery (2021). After the premiere, you can view this episode of Artists at Work along with all of the others on the National Gallery's YouTube channel.

Made possible by the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Lecture Series.
