Let’s turn trash into treasure by making a flag book with recycled materials! 

Join printmaker and book artist Sarah Matthews for a bookmaking workshop inspired by Called to Create and artists like Thorton Dial and Mose Toliver.

Sarah Matthews's artwork has been exhibited in the United States and is a part of the permanent collections of Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, George Washington University’s Gelman Library, University of Puget Sound, and Samford University. 

Materials

  • 2 pieces of cardboard or chipboard 5" x 5"
  • 1 piece of card stock or thick paper, blank or printed on, 5" x 10"
  • 6-12 sheets of paper (old prints, scraps, paintings, newspaper, construction paper, wrapping paper, kids art, etc.)
  • Ruler
  • Glue stick, double-sided tape, and/or liquid glue
  • Scissors and/or a craft knife
  • Coloring materials like markers, crayons, or colored pencils
