Curatorial Records

The Department of Curatorial Records maintains the curatorial files for paintings, sculptures and decorative arts in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art. The curatorial files may be consulted by qualified scholars and students by appointment only between 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except federal holidays.  To schedule an appointment to research in the curatorial files, please contact us with specific information using the form below.

Curatorial records staff will also respond to research inquiries specific to the collections of the National Gallery of Art and provide additional information about documents in the curatorial files.  Questions about collection information or requests for searches more complicated than those possible through the web site may also be directed to this office.

Appointments must be requested at least two business days in advance and are not confirmed until you receive an email with final approval for your visit.
