Biography

Andrew Truax was the son of Abram A. [1779-1821] and Maria Swart [1787-1821] Truax. He had three sisters--Eleanor, Anna Maria, and Catharine. Andrew raised his great-niece, Mary Truax Gilmour (later Landon), daughter of Mary Jane Vedder Gilmour and granddaughter of Andrew's sister Eleanor Truax Vedder. He willed to Mary T. Landon all of his personal effects, including a portrait of his great-aunt, Susanna Truax (now in the NGA).
