Mary T. Landon was the granddaughter of Harmen and Eleanor Truax [1808-1904] Veeder. The Veeders had a son and two daughters. Their daughter Mary Jane (Veeder) Gilmour was the mother of Mary Truax Gilmour, however, the latter was brought up by her great-uncle (Eleanor's brother), Dr. Andrew Truax, whom she called "Uncle Doctor". Dr. Truax willed to the younger Mary all of his personal effects, including a portrait of his great-aunt, Susanna Truax (now in the NGA). Mary Gilmour later married Robert Judson Landon. They had three children--Judson Stuart, Eleanor Veeder and Katherine Gilmour (later Katherine Landon Fuguet, who inherited the Truax portrait).
