Possibly Dr. R.C. Moffatt.[1] William Wilson Corcoran [1798-1888], Washington;[2] gift 10 May 1869 to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; acquired 2015 by the National Gallery of Art.

[1] It is possible that Moffatt lent the painting to the 1854 National Academy of Design exhibition.

[2] According to a letter from Corcoran to the artist, dated 6 February 1854, Corcoran purchased a painting titled Prairie Scene from the artist. See the transcription of the letter (in the William William Corcoran Papers, Library of Congress, Washington) inNGA curatorial files.
