Remarks

Abraham Walkowitz studied art at both Cooper Union in New York and Académie Julian in Paris. Through his friendship with Marsden Hartley he met Stieglitz in 1912 and became his dedicated assistant at 291 during the war years. He helped organize the first children’s art exhibition at 291 and had four one-person shows there as well. His friendship with Stieglitz cooled in the late 1910s.

Abraham Walkowitz visited Lake George in September 1916.
