“I have two [photographs] of Peggy with beads & draped in her bathing towel ready for you. The small one in which she moved a trifle or rather in which the focus is not sharp. It’s nevertheless a delight. You’ll enjoy it. G. says it’s prophetic. Maybe. I don’t know anything outside of the fact that photographing is a torture to me & I know what I’m after . . .” Stieglitz to Elizabeth and Donald Davidson, 3 August 1924 (YCAL).
