Photograph Study Room

The National Gallery of Art’s collection of photographs comprises more than 20,000 works spanning the entire history of photography, from the beginnings of the medium in 1839 to the present. The Gallery regularly mounts both exhibitions highlighting photographs from the collection and major loan exhibitions of works borrowed from other institutions and private collections.
