Press Event: Mellon Foutain Dedication

On March 17, the National Gallery of Art unveiled the restored Andrew W. Mellon Memorial Fountain, made possible by a grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation. Situated at the apex of the Federal Triangle complex in downtown Washington, DC, and directly across from the Gallery’s Sixth Street entrance, the fountain was restored in time to commemorate the Gallery’s 75th anniversary. On September 25, 2015, the National Park Service transferred to the Gallery custody of the fountain and surrounding triangular park dedicated to Gallery founder, Andrew W. Mellon.
