Faces and Places
Kindergarten through Grade 3
Students will explore portraits and landscapes as a way of telling stories about people and places from the past. They will be encouraged to make personal connections and interpretations using evidence found in the works of art.
Looking and Learning Skills
During four or five tour stops, students engage in activities—such as looking exercises, simple art-making activities, and small group work—that foster conversations about works of art. On this tour, students will practice the followings skills:
- Drawing upon prior knowledge to generate ideas about works of art
- Describing and sharing ideas about works of art
- Comparing and contrasting works of art
- Comparing past and present lifestyles
